A PERFECT CIRCLE: THIRTEENTH STEP 2003-2004
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA [HORDERN PAVILION]

We got to the Horden at 4.00 to find out that we had to wait til 7.00 til the doors opened, So we ended up waiting til 7.30 when they let us in and then we had to wait til 8.00 to actually get into the hall. The doors finally opened and we went in and got a place up the front (in-between Jeordie and Maynard). We watched "the giants of Science" play their set which was a bad start to the night since the guitarists lead fell out and strap fell off. After that we waited longer for APC to come.
Finally they came out in darkness and took their places onstage to open with 'Vanishing'. I never listened to that song before that night but after seeing that live I had a totally different view on that song. They played all of their best songs like 'The Hollow', '3 Libras', 'Orestes', 'Brena', 'The Package', 'Weak & Powerless', 'The Noose', 'The Outsider', 'Pet' and a really good version of 'The Nurse Who Loved Me' which was a shock to a lot of people.
Throughout the night the band members made a few jokes and talked to the crowd. James did a weird guitar solo with his mouth and Josh did a very poor attempt at a drum solo (on purpose). Security made it very clear that Maynard didn't want any cameras in there which surprisingly worked and there wasn't a flash all night. As all things do it came to the end where they finished with 'Judith' and the crowd went insane. When they finished that song Jeordie threw on Billy's guitar and Billy chucked on the bass and this really got the crowd's attention. And to top off this moment they busted out with 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica, this sent the crowd off. Jeordie was on vocals (doing a great job) and Billy was standing on the speakers way on the side. Nearly the whole crowd had full energy again and was singing LOUD. They got about half way through the chorus and stopped, Jeordie then said "well it's been a long time" and then the night was over, they walked off stage and we all walked out into the night VERY satisfied.
Overall this was the best concert I've ever seen and sounded "Perfect". They couldn't have done better.
