Last night’s show in Louisville was one of the best shows I've seen on this tour! Not that the others haven’t been totally awesome in their own right, but last night I got not one, not two, but three special treats: Paz taking the stage to play violin during “3 Libras”, another in a series of jam sessions that have taken place after Maynard has left the stage and finally...Jeordie being the most animated I've ever seen him – he was all over the stage last night, totally on fire!
Regarding Paz and “3 Libras”, this was her second guest appearance with the band, the first having been back in August when the band played the Metro in Chicago. At first I didn't know what the fuck -- the lights were real low and suddenly I noticed this chick come crawling/slithering across the stage from the back, alongside James’ riser and then behind Jeordie. I thought some crazy fan had made her way up there somehow until she held up the violin. She kicked some major ass when she played, I can see why her presence is missed for this song.
The set list for this show was pretty much the same as all the others, but when the show ended as it always does with "Judith", Jeordie just kept on playing. He picked up Billy's guitar and Billy got behind the drum kit. Jeordie called for James to come out and when he didn't, he led the audience in a chant of "James! James! James!". They played a bit of a Smashing Pumpkins song to lure him out but when that didn't work they just launched into Crue's "Looks that Kill" with Jeordie on vocals (last time they did this – in San Antonio – it was James on vocals). They finally got Josh to come out, who took over on drums while Billy switched over to bass for Metallica's "Master of Puppets", again with Jeordie on vocals. When that was over....well, it wasn't over for Jeordie. Billy and Josh left the stage and Jeordie continued to play, dodging the roadies who'd begun tearing down the set. He jumped up on Maynard's platform, still continuing to play for a bit until he finally decided yeah, it's time to go.
As stated earlier, this was the most energetic I've seen Jeordie yet, and he kept it going throughout the entire show. He ran around all over the stage -- over by Billy, in front of Maynard and even jumping up on the platform with James at one point. I just love watching him play, I mean really watching him on the bass. He’s incredibly talented and has brought a lot to the table with his addition to the line up. You can tell he’s gained more confidence and grown as a musician/performer since leaving Marilyn Manson, and even since his first shows with APC. He just keeps getting better and better at his craft.
On a side note, I felt a bit bad for James (who also is a worthy addition to the lineup), as he was having some technical difficulties for a time. On the plus side, however, that led to us being entertained by Jeordie doing "Fred's Got Slacks" while James was trying to work shit out.
All in all, this one stands out as being one of the best shows out of the nine I’ve seen thus far.
