Let me start off by saying that this was, hands down, THE best NIN show I've ever been to, and probably the best show I've attended, EVER. Everything about it was perfect, well except having my friend next to me on the barrier in front of Jeordie. I'll get into that later. My spot was perfect: in-between Jeordie and Trent. The pit was tiny, therefore allowing me to move (that comes in handy during Reptile). It was very strange how absolutely perfect that night was-- the weather, the whole energy of the band and crowd. It was surreal.

I went over TV On The Radio and Bauhaus in my last review, again TV On The Radio didn't do much for me (but the splash of water did), and Bauhaus were great. I caught a glimpse of Trent and Aaron watching from the side.

So NIN is playing and the show was going wonderfully. The sound was excellent, the light show was still awesome. Trent was talkative, he assaulted Aaron. Aaron was out of control, like always, Josh was Josh; drumming his ass off, Ally was having a jam session back there. The whole band was having this water fight thing. Jeordie was Mr. Dancy-Pants, he had some smooth moves going on there. He pretty much let loose and had at it, going crazy and all; really animated and fun to watch. It was even more fun "jamming" just a few feet in front of him. I had room to move, so I was just doing mah thing, it was great being able to do that. As I mentioned earlier I had my friend next to me who went a tad bit overboard, almost jumping over the barricade and shit, and that fucking hair haha. A security guy even came over and told him to calm down, I had a laugh at that. Apparently Jeordie also had a laugh at him as well. I noticed him looking at my bud, then going over to Ally, tells Ally something and they both look back, Jeordie comes back, looks at him again, and laughs. I would have probably laughed too if I WASN'T RIGHT NEXT TO THE GUY. But it was all good.

The breeze coming through the front during La Mer was another reason why that night was perfection. Then, right after The Big Come Down, they had to pause the show due to a thunder storm. There was a possibility the show was going to end right then and there. When the guy came out and said that I was like EFFIN HELL. I thought that's it, the show's over. But Trent came out and said:

"We've had drummers blow up. We've had a variety of shit but this is the first time. So now we're supposed to pretend that we're still in the middle of the set and everything's just ... see, it feels like we were having sex with you guys and we were about to make you cum when the cops busted in the door and we had to stop. Now we have to try to get back in the spirit of things. So fuck it, were gonna try and play some extra songs anyway.... get you back in the mood."

OoOoOooOOOoOooo. That speech definitely got me back in the mood. The closing 6 songs was fucking ecstasy. Dead Souls, Reptile. I was so happy to hear Reptile, it was fan-fucking-tastic. Ah I can't get over it. Get Down Make Love was super fun as well.

The shit really hit the fan when, during "Down In It", the rain started picking up with the wind at the EXACT MOMENT Jeordie screams, "Rain rain, go away, come again some other day". It was just uncanny how at that moment the rain started swishing across the stage. Definitely one of those unforgettable concert experiences. I mean it was surreal, I almost had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming =] Another reason why this concert was perfect: NO HURT. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but its always such a drag for me. The show came to a great close as well.

After the show, as I was waiting for the crowd to loosen up so I could leave, the mic tech comes out of nowhere, walks straight up to me and just hands me a used guitar pick. I could tell it was used because the NIN label was half scratched off and there were grooves on the sides. I was like, wow, ok...? Thanks? I couldn't tell him anything because he walked away so quickly.

Coming into the venue I really didn't think Charlotte would be any better than the night before (Raleigh), but little did I know I was going to have the best experience of my life. I wanted to cry I was so fucking happy. Ah, it was a blast.

Seeing as this was the last tour in the U.S. for Nine Inch Nails for a while, I couldn’t pass up the chance to re-live my previous concert experiences. Little did I know that this was an experience that would blow all concerts before it away.

I got to the venue at around two thirty or so, just in case of a meet and greet or sound check, but no luck with that. So, I ended up standing in the sun for 3 or so hours for nothing, considering that I had seats. This resulted in a terrible sunburn, but looking back I’m pretty sure it was worth it.

Once I got in, I found my seats, which turned out to be the second row behind the tiniest pit I had ever seen in my life. I was about twenty feet from the stage and had seats, which is awesome. The view was excellent. I was on Jeordie’s side, and I could see the entire stage beautifully.

TV on the Radio was awesome. I had been a fan for a while, so it was pretty exciting to hear them live. They did some songs that I had been wanting to hear live, but I don’t think their set was quite long enough.

Bauhaus was pretty kick-ass as well, but their performance wasn’t the best I had seen from them. Their set still rocked, though, and the sound was great. Peter Murphy is really a sight to behold live.

And then there was NIN. Like all other shows on this tour, Trent came out with the house lights still on and snuck into "Somewhat Damaged". The energy for the first half of the show was excellent, and it sounded great. The set list is as follows:

Somewhat Damaged
You Know What You Are
Sin
Terrible Lie
March Of The Pigs
The Frail-The Wretched
Closer
Burn
Gave Up
Help Me I’m In Hell
Non Entity
Only
Wish
La Mer
Into The Void
The Big Come Down

At this point, the audience was rather worked up about the storm that was brewing during the last three songs, and the lightning that streaked the sky during La Mer (which was an awesome sight). After "The Big Come Down" came to a close, Trent asked everyone to hold on a moment and stopped the show, and everyone on the lawn was informed to either go to their cars or somewhere under a roof. The storm got so violent that the power went out momentarily and there was talk of a tornado. The crowd wasn’t too enthused about the show stopping momentarily, but the pause only lasted for about fifteen minutes or so, so it wasn’t too bad.

At this point, I was back to my seat and standing when we saw Trent and the rest of the band walk out and resume their positions. Trent then got to the mic and gave a little speech:

“How much time did you guys need to get off the yard? Fuck. This is the first time this has ever happened to us. We’ve had drummers blow up, we’ve had, uh, a variety of shit, but this is the first time. So now we’re supposed to pretend that we’re still in the middle of the set and everything’s just . . . See, it feels like we were having sex with you guys, and we were all just about to make you come, and then, like, the cops broke in the door and we had to stop. You know, we have to try to get back in the spirit of things. So fuck it, we’re going to play some extra songs anyway. Get you back in the mood.”

At this time, the band began to play "Dead Souls", and the following is the set list for the rest of the show:

Dead Souls
Reptile
Get Down Make Love
Down In It
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like A Hole

The energy for the second part of the show was fucking amazing. The storm continued and even knocked the power out for the cameras that displayed the show on the large screens. During "Down In It", the storm was so hard that the wind was blowing rain up under the covered area as the band sang “Rain, rain, go away. Come again some other day.” That was an awesome experience, and it was like the entire audience sang along with that part of the song.

It was the perfect way to wrap up the most energetic concert I have ever been to, and to top things off, Jeordie threw out a pick and I caught it, so now I have a piece of memorabilia that is more precious than anything you could buy at the merch stand.

Unlike the other concerts, I didn’t sleep at all that night. I am still running off of the adrenaline that the show started pumping through me.

I’m looking forward to the next tour, and you can all be sure that I will provide more reviews when the time comes.
