July 28, 2003

An indepth review of the Denver, CO tour opener from someone who was there has been posted on the Reviews page. Thanks to Kendra for sharing!

A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel spoke to The Dallas Morning News and gave a few details regarding Jeordie's being brought into the fold. Although coming from Marilyn Manson and bringing some "baggage" along with him, Howerdel says that Jeordie ended up being a good fit for the band. A former guitar technician, Billy knew both Jeordie (as well as new guitarist James Iha) previous to his joining up with A Perfect Circle. "I worked for Nine Inch Nails, and Marilyn Manson was the opening band," he says of his initial introduction to Jeordie. "This was 10 years ago. I'd bumped into Jeordie over the years. He heard we were looking for a bass player. It really clicked." Howerdel claims he was surprised at everyone's enthusiasm and that he "didn't know that Maynard would be that into it. When we'd been out and seen Jeordie, it would be real low-key. But when his name came up, Maynard was interested."

A Perfect Circle performs a sold out show tonight at Dallas' Granada Theater.

Before heading off to Denver today on the eve of their 12 city promotional tour and Lollapalooza performances, A Perfect Circle held a private showcase last night for family and friends at their Los Angeles rehearsal studio, wherein they debuted their new material and stage show. A full review of the show will be up later today at aperfectcircle.us, to be followed by a few mp3 clips of the performance itself. Also, be sure to bookmark this site for future reference -- the launch of the full site is expected to occur shortly and will feature, among other things, a huge archive of A Perfect Cirle news and multimedia, which should be of interest to die-hard APC fans as well as new fans looking for an extensive history and background on Jeordie's new band.

With the tour about to take off, I'd like to remind everyone that this site will be accepting submissions of any local press coverage and/or your own reviews, as well as good quality photos. See the Contact page for submission info.

The promotional clip of "Weak and Powerless" reported on yesterday has hit the internet and is now available on the Audio page. Click here to listen. Also, if you are in the San Antonio, Texas area, local radio station KISS 99.5 has stated on its website that if the single is delivered to them as expected on July 29th, they plan to debut it sometime between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon on that same day.

Though it still has not been confirmed as to whether or not A Perfect Circle will be playing Nottingham on September 16th, there is a new show for the UK which has been confirmed. That show will take place on September 17th in Manchester (Manchester University) and APC will be headlining this one. Tickets are on sale now at this location.

An additonal date may have been added to A Perfect Circle's UK itinerary, with the Deftones recently confirmed for a September 16th show at Nottingham's Rock City (a venue considerably smaller than Wembley Arena) along with "very special guests". I have contacted the venue with hopes of confirming just who the openers are, but in case I don't hear back, those of you in the area with an interest in this might want to do some checking around yourselves.

Filming for the video to accompany A Perfect Circle's "Weak and Powerless" commenced on Monday, July 21st in Los Angeles. No word on when the video will premiere but the single is set to debut on radio stations on August 4th. Also, a 30 second sound clip of "Weak and Powerless" will reportedly be making the rounds shortly as part of an internet promotion campaign. [Thanks to aperfectcircle.us.]

No news to report today, but I did want to make everyone aware of an update to the website. Since it is unlikely at this point that I will be adding anything Marilyn Manson-related to this site unless it is something extremely rare and unique, I've created an archive for the Manson-era photos, interviews, concert reviews and tour dates. Anything Manson can be found there, with the exception of the Audio page which for now will remain as is, pending the addition of more post-Manson audio files. The Candid photo page will also remain intact for the time being. Rest assured that none of the Manson files will be deleted -- they will always be here for you to enjoy and for new fans to get a look back at Jeordie's history. However, it's time to put away the old toys in order to make room for the new. To access the archived files, you will find the "Manson Archive" tab at the bottom of the menu on the Index page.

Will A Perfect Circle follow up their September UK/Euro trek opening for the Deftones with such a tour of the US? While nothing is confirmed, the Deftones’ Chino Moreno indicated to New York’s K-Rock radio last week that he hopes it can be pulled together. If you are a fan of either or both bands, you are no doubt aware of the fact that APC vocalist Maynard James Keenan is featured on the track "Passenger" off the Deftones’ 2000 CD White Pony.

Three more photos from last month's Maxim Hot 100 party have been added to the Candid gallery.

July 10, 2003

The yet-to-be-determined single from APC's forthcoming Thirteenth Step will reportedly hit the airwaves on August 4th, just a few days after the start of the band's promotional club tour.

Got new info on the film project "Live Freaky! Die Freaky" to report. While the film will only have a limited theatrical run in New York and Los Angeles in the Fall, an official release date of February 15, 2004 has been set for the DVD, a date which holds for Europe as well as the U.S. The DVD will include behind the scenes footage and will also come with a soundtrack. For the full update, go to www.livefreakydiefreaky.com.

The latest update from Ipecac Records on Desert Sessions 9/10 now forecasts a September release date, pushed back from the August 12th date as had previously been set by the label (but bumped up from MTV’s report of October).

In APC news from Down Under, while rumors that the band will appear at Australia’s upcoming Livid Festival appear to be unfounded at this point, talk that they will be a part of the Big Day Out 2004 lineup seems a bit more plausible. Thus far, however, Metallica is the only band to be confirmed. Look for more artists to be added to the roster over the coming months, with the complete lineup expected to be announced in early October.
