In addition to his musical projects, Jeordie is also slated to lend his voice to the forthcoming animated/puppetry (a la "The Nightmare Before Christmas") film "Live Freaky! Die Freaky!", taking on the role of a TV anchorman. Written by independent filmmaker/California punk scene veteran John Roecker and produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong, the film will also feature Jeordie's APC bandmate Josh Freese, White Zombie's Sean Yseult, members of Green Day, AFI and Blink 182 along with "Lord of the Rings" actor Viggo Mortenson. A brief synopsis of the story appears on the film's official website as follows: "It is the year 3069 and the earth has been raped of all its natural resources, destroyed by war and ozone depletion, and is now only a barren desert. The humans who inhabit this empty vessel search not only for food but for a god to save them. Their search will soon be over when Charles Manson returns to save them." The film is scheduled for limited release in the Fall and will be available on DVD everywhere in time for the holidays. [Thanks to KrazzyJoe for providing the lead on this story.]
Josh Homme again comments on the making of the Desert Sessions during an interview published in the Toronto Sun earlier this week. "I present a theme that can be used or thrown away, and start the first song. And it's amazing what happens. In five days we did 16 songs, and there wasn't a dog among them," says Homme. "In the desert you have the ability to truly be left alone. You get a real brotherhood/sisterhood thing, and you feel part of something that's bigger than you are. It's a big influence on me. Working with such good players keeps you from getting writer's block or repeating yourself, which is worse than repeating others."
Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, speaking with Billboard magazine about upcoming projects (which includes hitting the studio possibly this fall to commence recording the next QOTSA album), gave another brief preview of what to expect on the upcoming Desert Sessions Vol. 9/10. "There is a mellower, dark brooding vibe to some of this," says Homme, "that is more realized than on some of the other ones." Meanwhile, although there is no way to know right now if this is one of the tracks that Jeordie has contributed to, a sample has now been made available of a track from the CD entitled "I Wanna Make It Witchu". You can listen to it by clicking here. As previously reported, the release date is currently set for August 12 on Ipecac Recordings, in tandem with Homme's Rekords Rekords imprint.
The Manson Museum currently has available for sale a limited number of a never before seen, autographed 8x10 Holywood promo shot of Jeordie (well..Twiggy) on the Trade Page. The going price is $50 each.
