NEWS ARCHIVES - APRIL 2003

April 26, 2003

Though there has been no official announcement regarding a release date for A Perfect Circle's new album, just wanted to let everyone know that the buzz is now that it will be released shortly before the band's performances on the Lollapalooza tour, which would indicate a release sometime in late July or early August. No word yet on a title for the album, but as soon as I have more info on that, track listings and an actual release date I will let everyone know. For now, this at least gives a better timeline as to when the album may drop.

The pre-sale for the 8/23 Auburn, Washington Lollapalooza show is now underway at lollapalooza.com (and registration is apparently no longer required). There will be a pre-sale open to American Express cardholders for the Mountain View, CA show at ticketmaster.com beginning tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. (PST) and ending on Friday, 4/25 at 5 p.m. There is no information thus far as to whether or not the Lollapalooza site will hold their own pre-sale for this one, but you should definitely keep a watch for one. Tickets for Mountain View go on sale to the general public on Sunday, 4/27 at 10:00 a.m.

Just to update everyone, the release date for Desert Sessions Vol. 9/10 has now been pushed back from July 29th to August 12th.

An upcoming issue of Revolver magazine features an interview with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri, during which Josh talked a little bit about the making of Desert Sessions Vol. 9/10:

After five and a half months on the road, the Queens recently had a two-week break- and Homme spent the entire time recording with the Eagles of Death Metal (a duo composed of demented singer/guitarist Jesse “the Devil” Hughes and Homme on drums) and Desert Sessions, Homme’s long-running musical project that features an ever-changing cast of collaborators. “It was 16 songs written, arranged, and recorded in five days,” says Homme of the latest Desert Session incarnation. “We had, like 12 different people on it--not all at once but, like, going in and out in waves. When you get the chance to hang with Twiggy Ramirez or Dean Ween or PJ Harvey for seven days straight, you take it. I mean, they’re friends of mine, but you only get to see them backstage most of the time. It’s such a different environment, waking up and going to breakfast together five times, six times in a row. It’s like camp!”
The issue containing the full interview should be available at newsstands shortly (features Metallica on the cover).
